Tips for Managing by Emotional Intelligence

- Minimize
across the board rules. People are individuals and like to be treated as such.
- Use one-on-one encounters to learn what to say and how to say it.
- Watch and listen before taking action.
- Focus on the why of a negative comment not the what.
- Expect high performance, but tolerate failure. Good employees will experience failure
and they realize when they have missed the mark.
- Use counter cyclic approaches to defuse situations. As situations intensity grow
calmer. Intensity is desirable, but tension is not.
