Matter, Matter, Who Matters?

Women matter! It is an undeniable fact. Women impact every aspect and dimension of our society, but this trend is not openly acknowledged or widely publicized. Women are the bridges between strategic brilliance and flawless execution, ethical values and expedient plunder, and the integration of family life and work life. Listed below are some facts on this trend that may lead to new insight regarding the collective clout of women.

Economically, women make eighty percent (80%) of household "buy decisions." Women also comprise forty four percent (44%) of the workforce, and own forty seven percent (47%) of investment securities. Yet, the issues of gender wage gaps persist. Do you think pay equity would significantly impact each of these areas and ultimately the socioeconomic strata of our society?

Women vote! Since 1964 women have cast the majority of the votes cast in national elections. Collaterally, women have supported candidates who aligned themselves with issues important to women. For example, family leave, childcare, pay equity and federal budget medical research allocations. Could this be categorized as political clout?

Most noticeably, women are the caretakers of our society. This spans the range from infancy to the aged. The influence of women on the values and attitudes of the very young in our society is phenomenal. Likewise, women have lifted their collective voices to address healthcare issues for the elderly as well as women in general. Do you think that breast cancer or cervical cancer research would receive the level of funding they have without the activism and advocacy of women?

Yes, women matter indeed. Could they matter even more so in the elimination of corporate graft, greed and malfeasance? Do you think women could impact this matter?
