It's the Little Things that make a Difference

Same day response.

When you have been asked to provide information, always communicate with the requester on the same day. Either fill the request or provide the date you will have it.

Arrive on time.

In the social world, it is acceptable to be fashionably late. However, the business world will view this as distasteful.

Promote yourself.

Promoting yourself does not mean that you should brag, boast or be pushy. It means getting positive attention for yourself. You must take the responsibility for getting credit for your accomplishments.

Invest in yourself.

Fine tune your wardrobe. Invest a few dollars in having moderately priced off the rack suits tailored. Purchase a lint brush and use it daily. Shoes do not have to cost $500 a pair to be impressive, however they must be well kept. Regular visits to a shoe repair shop for new heels and a good polish will do the trick.

Establish Credibility

Be known for having your facts straight. Refrain from guessing answers. When you are asked a question that you do not have the answer to, simply state, "I'd like to think about that and get back to you."

Repeat nothing told to you in confidence

Often times having the inside scoop can place you ahead of the game. The quickest way to be outside of the information loop is breach of confidence.
