Want to enhance your chances of being selected for an interview, want to strike another blow to make sure you get a better shot at that new job? Well here is some information about yet another way recruiters screen candidates, they use computers. So, please use these tips to keep your resume from going into the cyberspace "Land of the Wiz." Automated tracking systems love a resume that is simple and to the point, so remember, keep it simple. Now the important stuff.
1. Make sure name is the readable item on each page.
2. Avoid folding and staples, if you must fold, please do not fold on line of text.
3. Use white or light-colored paper, printed on one side, letter size.
4. Use nondecorative, popular typefaces.
5. Font size of 10-14 points.
6. Use "key words," that are common to your profession, the computers are programmed to search for they.
7. Capitalized words, and boldface are okay. Avoid italic text, underlined passages, and script.
8. No graphics, please, they don't scan very well.
9. Avoid vertical and horizontal line, they really confuse the computer.
10. Use nouns, not verbs.
Now you are in the computer, if your key words are strong, get ready for the interviews.
