As a person who is a very close observer of employment trends, I beg you as a minority professional, please do not be caught up in the sound-bites. If you respond to the political hot air, you give credit to the comments of people who do not understand demographics.
What will happen to Affirmative Action Plans in Corporate America? The answer is: nothing. Corporate America is smart, it knows who and where the future employees and executives are, and most importantly, it knows that the future customers will come from the nation's minorities.
Minorities comprise or will comprise the majority of American workforce in the very near future. Therefore, I do not see a problem with more minorities climbing the corporate ladder, and or starting their own companies using skills acquired via better education and corporate experience.
Recent court decisions, and political hot-air do not worry me, because I have a plan in action. As a reader of this newsletter, I am also sure you have your plan working. A simple fact to remember is to produce results in whatever position you are in now. Continue to plan your next move and do not wait on Affirmative Action. Rely on your own desire to manage your career.
