OnLine For Success

This month we will conclude our discussion on American Online (AOL) with these menu options: Job Listings Database, Occupational Profiles Database, and Career Counseling Services. Last month we described these options: Self-Employment Service, Federal Employment Service, Career Resource Library, Employment Agency Database and Employer Contacts Database.

America Online Career Center

You will find the Career Center in the Learning & Reference department of AOL. You can also use the keyword "career" for immediate access. Once into the Career Center you will have a menu which contains several options.

Job Listings Database

The Help Wanted-USA and E-Span databases contains thousands of electronic employment ads. The positions listed are professional in nature, cover most career fields , and represent companies nationwide. These databases are updated weekly.

Career Counseling Services

By using the Appointment Book in the Career Counseling section of the Career Center you can sign up to participate in an online group counseling discussion led by an experienced career counselor. There is no extra fee for this counseling service.

Occupational Profiles Database

This database allows you to use keyword searches to locate information about a job , profession, or occupation. Information is available about the type of work conditions, the level of pay and the required education or professional certifications.
