Current "Hot" Careers

Recent surveys indicate that the following careers are hot in terms of great pay, strong growth potential and openness to inclusion. The order of listing does not indicate rank.
  1. Animator   The field of Arts and Entertainment is full of opportunities involving interactive technology.
  2. Accounting Increases in business mergers and acquisitions have produced a need for business valuation specialists and other specialists in the accounting field.
  3. Engineering Specifically Biotechnology, Chemical, Environmental, and Computers. Employment is projected to double in these areas by the year 2005.
  4. Geriatric-Rehabilitation Therapist Boomers are aging and focus has shifted toward helping older people obtain healthier, more functional lifestyles.
  5. Telecommunications This is the primary driver behind our shrinking world. Enough said!
  6. Law Specifically Business and Health Care. Dynamics in these fields forecast a high demand for experts in these areas.
  7. Executive-search Consultant The current labor-pool shortage of skilled professional and technical people will increase the need for people who successfully connect clients and candidates as companies reorganize and expand globally.
  8. Genetic Counselor/Researcher This field offers a rare opportunity to combine science and social work.
  9. Financial Planner The bulk of the country's wealth has shifted to the middle class. This shift brings with it an increasing demand for professional financial services for individuals and small businesses.
  10. Education Math/Science/Special-Education—Yes, you are correct! This is not a high paying career, but the demand and growth potential are very high.
